Ancient and mysterious, China has fascinated travelers for centuries. As the third-largest country in the world, China offers countless possibilities for exploration and adventure – from the extravagant palaces and tombs of its glorious Imperial past to the sprawling wonders of its sweeping natural landscapes. Set against this backdrop, modern China holds its own appeal – amongst its myriad attractions, visitors discover vibrant cityscapes and some of the world’s most famous landmarks.
A China tour is about so much than history alone though. Covering nearly 4 million square miles and a vast range of landscapes, the natural wonders are more than a match for the historic ones. Enjoy a tranquil cruise through the lush countryside of the Li River, dotted with towering limestone peaks, marvel at the towering cliffs of the Three Gorges on a Yangtze cruiser, or get up close and personal with China’s most celebrated bear, the adorable panda in Chengdu. From the snow-capped mountains of Yunnan to the rolling dunes of the Taklaman Desert the diversity is astonishing.
In 1983 there were no golf courses in China. Now there are 310, with hundreds more in the pipeline. Some predictions call for as many as a thousand new courses in the next 10 years, a pace is so alarmingly rapid that the government recently imposed a moratorium on construction, in the interest of protecting the nation’s arable land.
Due to the fact that its 12 signature courses are designed by golf legends from around the globe including Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Annika Sorenstam – to name a few! Mission Hills Shenzhen has hosted over 100 major international tournaments and in 1995 held China’s first world-renown golf championship, the 41st World Cup of Golf. The tournament was also broadcasted across the country making it a first in China’s history, in 2014 – A total of 1,987 golfers makes history at Mission Hills Shenzen-Dongguan by taking part in the biggest single-day golf tournament in history. Officially accredited as ‘The World’s Largest One-Day Golf Tournament’ by Guinness World Records.
