Sri Lanka is a lovely teardrop-shaped Indian Ocean island of dense forests, glittering temples, and golden beaches. Oh, and don’t forget the charming hillside tea plantations that produce some of the globe’s finest tea.
Whether it is walking on pristine, white-sanded beaches; standing on one of the beautiful lush-green mountainous lands to take in the awe-inspiring views; discovering the scenic Royal Botanical Gardens; or admiring one of the enchanted waterfalls, you are bound to leave Sri Lanka feeling inspired.
Sri Lanka has a long history in the sport of golf? First introduced at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, the island is home to 4 of the finest 18-hole golf courses, each of them located at different elevations against a backdrop of stunning landscapes. The association with golf dates back over a century. The Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship instituted in the year 1891 follows the British Amateur, as one of the oldest national championships yet.
The four picturesque golf courses are located in Colombo, Digana, Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota. Undoubtedly the favorite is the tranquil setting of the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, flanked by mountains and valleys and designed by the award-winning Donald Steele & Co.
